Continuity and discontinuity in licence programmes at the University of Lille
The purpose of processing personal data entitled ‘Continuity and discontinuity in licence programmes at the University of Lille’) is to carry out a study analysing the progress of students enrolled in licence programmes and to identify the factors that cause them to abandon their studies.
This processing is carried out by the University of Lille’s Studies Department Observatory (Observatoire de la Direction des Formations; ODiF) under the responsibility of the President of the University of Lille. This is optional processing, the legal basis for which is the university’s duties in serving the public interest within the meaning of Article 6(1) point e) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It has been declared in the university’s data processing register under reference no. 2024-(pending)
The personal data collected in the course of this study fall into the following categories:
- Identification data: surname, first name, national pupil ID (INE) number;
- Contact details: e-mail address; telephone number
- Data on the course
- Data on plans (studies and career)
- Data on personal environment and organisation of daily life
These data come from Apogée databases, survey responses and course administration data.
The recipients of this data are:
- Authorised ODiF employees: all data
- Student casual staff (subject to a confidentiality agreement): the data required for following up by telephone.

PASS and LAS student follow-up surveys
On behalf of the President of the University of Lille, the University of Lille’s Studies Department Observatory (Observatoire de la Direction des Formations; ODiF) processes personal data for the purpose of monitoring health courses over several years, focusing on access to the diplôme de formation générale de santé (general health studies diploma) (bac+2).
This optional processing has been declared in the University of Lille’s data processing register under reference no. 2021251. Its legal basis is the consent of respondents to the various surveys carried out as part of this scheme (Article 6(1) point a) GDPR).
The main categories of data collected are:
- Connection data;
- Data relating to the identification of the persons concerned;
- Contact information;
- Answers to the questions asked.
The data is stored for a period of (from the publication of the survey results):
- 1 year for: surnames, first names, date of birth and contact details; connection data;
- 5 years for INE (national pupil ID) data;
- 10 years for other data.
You have the following rights:
- right of access, rectification and erasure of your data;
- right to request restriction of processing;
- right to data portability;
- right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your data at any time.

Authorised ODIF employees have access to this data. The aggregated results will be communicated to the ‘Formation tout au long de la vie’ Vice-Presidents and to the University of Lille’s ‘Parcours Accès Santé Spécifique’ (PASS) and ‘Licence avec option “Accès Santé”’ (LAS) project managers.
Annual outcomes survey (non-official)
Every year, university observatories survey students/graduates from a given year who are not included in surveys approved by the Ministry of Higher Education, to find out about their professional situation and career paths.
This information is of interest to students who are currently undertaking their studies, as well as to course directors, university management and Lifelong Learning (Formation tout au long de la vie; FTLV) departments.
The University of Lille is responsible for processing personal data concerning your future, particularly in relation to professional integration. This has been declared in the university’s data processing register under reference no. 2020245.
This processing is not compulsory, and you may object at any time. In order to minimise the amount of data collected, certain pieces of information are marked as optional.
When you respond to an e-mail or telephone survey, the purpose is to collect the following information. These contact attempts are made on the basis of the contact details you provided to the university during your studies.
Preparatory data for the survey collected in Apogée from the Student Affairs Department:
- surname, first name, address;
- personal e-mail address (optional);
- personal telephone number (optional);
- diploma obtained.
Data collected by the questionnaire:
- professional situation, particularly 18 and 30 months after graduation;
- type of studies pursued if any;
- type of job;
- salary;
- evaluation of the course taken.
Your contact details are taken from our database of students and programmes based on a specific diploma or course.
Data is collected to produce statistical publications on the future of students who studied at the university, and to provide information to various groups of people: students, future students, families of future students, teachers, etc.
The University of Lille’s student outcomes surveys are carried out by the Studies Department Observatory (Observatoire de la Direction des Formations; ODiF) for the university’s needs.
ODiF uses a number of digital tools to manage its surveys and follow-up with non-respondents. These tools comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés), and have been registered with the university’s Data Protection Officer under no. 2019-130, 2019-108.
The University of Lille will endeavour to keep your data up to date in accordance with Recital 39 of the European Data Protection Regulation. ‘... Every reasonable step should be taken to ensure that personal data which are inaccurate are rectified or deleted....’. Thank you for helping us achieve this goal.
Responses will be used for overall statistical analysis, as well as for more specific analysis at the level of your diploma (job directories are also built up using information collected during future surveys and give a qualitative view of the jobs performed: job title, duties, job category, type of job, etc.).
Summaries of survey results are forwarded to teaching teams on request, as part of the process of updating course curriculums and applying for degree accreditation.
Summaries of the results may also be sent to Hcéres as part of the evaluation of institutions.
Connection data is stored for one year. Data provided in response to questionnaires is stored for a period of 10 years.
You have the following rights:

If you do not receive a response to your request within a reasonable period of time, you may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (CNIL) in accordance with Article 13 of the GDPR.
