Exemption from enrolment fees

If you are an EU or non-EU student, you may be able to have your enrolment fees waived in full or in part. The exemption is annual, and the conditions depend on your personal and social circumstances, your course of study and your academic programme.

If you are enrolled in a continuing education programme, please contact the continuing education department and/or the studies office for your campus for further information. The enrolment fee waiver application form is available here: https://inscription-evenement.univ-lille.fr/DFCA-EXO/

You are exempt from paying enrolment fees in the following three cases (i.e. the persons mentioned in article R. 719-49 of the French Education Code):

  • If you are in receipt of a grant based on social criteria;
  • If you are in receipt of a grant from the French government;
  • If you are a ward of the nation.

You will be asked to provide proof of identity when you register.

I pay standard enrolment fees (or€175 for a Licence, €250 for a Master’s, €618 for engineering programmes and €391 for a Doctorate):

  • If I am a non-EU student enrolled for the first time at the University of Lille in a Master’s or engineering programme;
  • If I am a non-EU distance-learning student;
  • If I am a non-EU doctoral student.

This corresponds to a partial waiver from automatically tiered enrolment fees.

N.B.: Non-EU students are nationals of countries outside the EU, EEA, Swiss Confederation, Monaco and Andorra.

The committee examines students’ social and personal circumstances and may propose a total or partial waiver for students subject to tiered fees.

I can apply for an exemption from enrolment fees based on social and personal criteria:

  • If I am not a CROUS or French government grant student;
  • If I am a non-EU student registering for the first time at the University of Lille foran undergraduate course of study (Licence, Licence professionnelle, BUT, etc.);
  • If I am repeating a year (EU or non-EU);
  • If I am a student with refugee status;
  • If I am an asylum seeker or under international, subsidiary protection or temporary protection.

The University of Lille has a student population that deserves the strong support of a major public university, with a high percentage of grant recipients and a vulnerable student population. The university’s exemption policy takes account of these difficulties and gives priority to examining the student’s social and personal circumstances.
