The University is working to improve the environmental quality of its campuses, in particular through ecological restoration projects.

Ecological restoration and rewilding projects

To restore and preserve biodiversity, ‘nature’ projects are organised on campus with the support of specialised partners, staff and student volunteers.

Here are a few examples:

  • Creation and maintenance of wetlands (ponds, pools)
  • Mowing meadows to diversify flora and fauna
  • Creation of ecological orchards containing local fruit species
  • Creating shelters for wildlife (insects, nesting boxes, hedgehog shelters)

These projects are carried out in partnership with student nature protection associations and with the support of civic service volunteers provided by theUnis-Cité Lillebranch.

The flora and fauna of our campuses

Promoting understanding to ensure better action for greater biodiversity

Protecting and enhancing biodiversity requires a better understanding of the different plant and animal species found on our campuses. Many initiatives contribute to our knowledge of flora and fauna:

  • Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux certification (Cité Scientifique)
  • Student inventories (insects, plants)
  • Workshop for observing and monitoring biodiversity: birds, dragonflies, plants, etc.
  • Creating refuge areas for biodiversity: shelters/nesting boxes, feeding areas, water points, etc.
  • Lectures and/or nature outings accompanied by experts (bats, reptiles and amphibians, birds, etc.)

They are organised in partnership with local associations:
