Accelerating campus commitment to zero waste

University initiatives

The University of Lille has launched a number of initiatives to reduce and sort waste. It is raising awareness among its university community of the need for zero waste, and is firmly committed to the principles of the circular economy.

Reducing upstream waste

Increasing the number of water fountains, limiting single-use containers, reducing the packaging of ordered supplies, etc.

Recycling, optimising sorting

Recycling as a last resort, in particular by encouraging the use of eco-organisations and optimising sorting.

Proposing circular economy-aligned alternatives

DIY (Do It Yourself) reuse workshops, bicycle self-repair workshops, repair café, sewing workshop, etc.). Experimentation with a ‘zero waste’ community on campus, organisation of furniture swaps with the Campus Market association, creation of a University of Lille Tipimi ‘community’, etc.
