The university has put in place a number of initiatives to encourage soft and active mobility on its campuses.

The Maison du Vélo bike workshop

Located on the Cité Scientifique campus, the Maison du Vélo bike workshop offers bicycle self-repair workshops several times a week for the whole community. Offered in partnership with the Jantes du Nord association who runs them, these workshops allow you to learn how to repair and maintain your bike yourself, with personalised support.
Occasionally, these workshops are held on different campuses so that everyone can benefit from them.

User services

The university has procured a fleet of around 100 bicycles to offer students in need of a loan bike for the duration of the academicyear.
These bikes can also be borrowed by the various university member schools, faculties and institutes for any initiatives/events they may be involved in. Parking facilities such as parking bays and secure garages provide a solution to the parking problem.
The university also allows its staff to work remotely, making non-travel a form of sustainable mobility.

Schemes to promote soft mobility

In addition to these facilities and services, the university has put in place sustainable mobility incentives for its staff. The sustainable mobility payment (forfait mobilité durable; FMD) enables employees who use bicycles or car share to benefit from a maximum of 200 euros to cover the cost of commuting to and from work. The university also enables its staff to make arrangements for working remotely, making non-travel a form of sustainable mobility.

Everyday mobility

The mobility of staff and students is a key concern for the university. A survey of students and staff was carried out in 2022, to which 9,500 people responded.
Learn about the results of this study, which will allow the university to draw up a travel plan that takes climate issues into account.
