The University of Lille works with the university community to encourage eco-responsible behaviour. To take concrete action in the field and reach its users as directly as possible, the University of Lille relies on a wide range of stakeholders and schemes.
A network of zero-carbon advisors
The University of Lille is setting up a network of zero-carbon advisors to ensure the dissemination and practical implementation of sustainable development on the university’s various campuses and sites.
Led by the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Department, it is organised into topic-based working groups: mobility, training, digital responsibility, Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report (BEGES), etc.
The network is open to students, who can have this involvement recognised as part of the the Social and Association-based Citizen Involvement teaching unit,as well as to teaching and administrative staff.
Green Brigade
Every year, the University of Lille offers a dozen students the chance to take on the role of the ‘Green Brigade’. The activities carried out as part of this mission are many and varied: organising DIY (Do It Yourself) workshops, preparing a conference, raising awareness of waste reduction or energy-saving initiatives, writing a guide to good environmentally responsible businesses in the Lille metropolitan area, etc.
Student associations

Student associations at the University of Lille are particularly active and committed to issues associated with the socio-ecological transition: creating and running vegetable gardens, selling baskets of organic, local and seasonal fruit and vegetables, raising awareness among students (seminars, conferences, etc.), promoting the commons and the freemovement, etc.
There are over a hundred student associations at the University of Lille, and just as many areas of focus and values to dedicate your time to!Join now and become a volunteer.

Other agents of change
The University of Lille is also seeing the emergence of citizens’ collectives and individual initiatives among its academic community. Our partnership with the NGO Acted has enabled us to set up a youth committee made up of students, whose aim is to raise students’ awareness ofclimate change and encourage them to take action, thus enabling peer-to-peer communication.
